Welcome to my little home on the internet. I'm April. I've been happily married to P for almost 4 years. I have an 11 year old step-daughter, The Young'un. I have 2 dogs, Indy - a lab mix and Bruno - a bloodhound / shar pei / shepard mix. Both are large, overly friendly, and my furry babies who really are convinced they are little tea cup poodles, not 80+ and 50+lb dogs.
We began our journey to having a child on our wedding night. We suffered a miscarriage of our only pregnancy in January of 2008. In December of 2009, I started clomid. We did 4 unsuccessful rounds of clomid. June of 2010 brought the RE and me kicking the doctor in the head during my HSG. December of 2010 brought P's first semen analysis and bad news with the results. After the first SA, P never scheduled a follow-up visit. He's not fond of the thought of fertility treatments and is being a bit of an ostritch about it at this point.
Currently, we are on a break. I have a ruptured ear drum that will require surgery to repair and we're off to Disney World in July so we have opted to hold off until after both of these events occur. I am still researching options and keeping an open mind about what path to walk down to pursue a child. He is slowly getting to that point as well.
Thanks for stopping by and happy ICLW!

Man...I keep missing ICLW. Go figure. Sorry about your ear. That's no good. :(
Things will look up. Mickey Mouse can melt the hardest of hearts! xoxo
Here from ICLW! Disney sounds like a great idea. I love to travel to exotic places, but when I ask my hubby where out of anywhere in the world he wants to go? Disney! ;)
Good luck to you!
Hi April, lovely to meet you! Stopping by from ICLW and I have to say I think taking a break is always helpful. The mind needs to clear up a bit and you have a fab trip to look forward to!
love, Fran ICLW #131
Have a great time in Disney!
See if P likes my story from an earlier blog. I hope it makes him laugh:

It's never easy, but there ARE guys struggling with infertility each day.
I hope you'll take another look at my front page. The continuation of the story is now up. It involves a dog ;-)
Best always,
Alec

OW! A ruptured ear drum! :(
I love Disney so I'm super jealous. Happy ICLW!
Stopping by from ICLW. Enjoy your trip to Disney and I hope your husband comes around. IF is a tough journey to take for both parties.
I came across your blog through ICLW. I look forward to following you on your IF journey. Don't worry, your hubby will come around when he's ready. It took my DH about two years after I was ready to start TTC. After going with me to our first RE visit and visiting resolve.org, he finally understood why it was so hard for me. He is more supportive now and also wants to do everything possible for us to finally have a family.
Good luck! Hope your ear surgery goes well.
Happy ICLW!

Happy ICLW!
I hope you enjoy the TTC break as much as you can. Very jealous on the trip to Disney...I really want to get there one day...
Men are funny creatures when it comes to all this IF business. I am sure yours will come around. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey. xx
Happy ICLW to you! Breaks from treatment are good, traveling is better. Enjoy your time together, heal yourself and decisions will come when you are ready for them.
Jealous of Disney... trying to work if we'll every be able to afford to go (from the UK).
Happy ICLW
Here of course from ICLW. Sometimes a break is a step foreward.. Hell Id break for Disney World!! Actually Im on my first cycle break in over 2yrs ttc, and Im finding myself a bit lost. About to start my first round of Clomid. Hope Disney World makes your dreams come true..
Hi from ICLW! Disney is one of my most favorite places on Earth! We went there for our honemoon! Have a wonderful time! We have MFI too. It is hard for the husband to talk about but he's come around over time. Wishing you all the best!
Happy ICLW!
Ouch! Your poor ear drum. :( I hope the repair is quick as is the healing!
Yay for Disney! Sounds like fun and I hope you have a blast!!
Visiting from ICLW. Sorry to hear about your eardrum! What is the surgery and what happened? I am a speech-lanaguage pathologist and learned WAY too much about the ears in school. I am jealous you are taking a vacation soon and I hope you have a great time. Sorry your hubby is being stubborn, but the process of infertility treatments is very invasive. Good luck!
Hey hun..I just gave you an award! Check out my blog :)
Hi April,
What a journey you've been through already. Wow. I am always so amazed by the resiliency that I read about in this community. it is really incredible.
I love your description of your husband as an ostrich. It is perfect. I could never understand how my dh could just "not think about it" when it was all that I could think about.
We are also dealing with MFI. It is hard on our guys.
Much love and luck to you as you take this time off, and hoping that you can develop an action plan soon after.

Visiting from ICLW! Just had to say when I read your line about having an HSG and kicking the Dr in the head - MAN I wanted to do the same thing! As pain free as a pap MY ASS!!! LOL
Wishing you luck! :)
Hi from ICLW. Thinking about you and wishing you good luck on your journey! Have fun at Disney!
The choices that go along with IF are overwhelming. I pray that you two are able to come up with a plan that you both feel good about. Have an awesome vacation!!! Sounds so much fun.
Happy ICLW.
I always love these summary ICLW posts because it helps me to get a good snapshot of someone and her journey.
May you enjoy your break and become renewed by it. Wishing you well with your other endeavors, too!
Happy ICLW! Sorry about your ear and your miscarraige! Hoping Disney World will cheer you up! Sounds like a lot of fun!
Goodness, I can't imagine what a ruptured ear drum feels like. I hope it's healed enough that the loudness of a theme park doesn't bother you..is loudness even an issue with ruptured ear drums? ICLW
Ouch! No fun on the ear drum. At least you have things to look forward to. I find it all much easier when I have a vacation on the horizon. We did the same before our cruise this past January.

Happy ICLW! Wishing you much luck on your fertility journey...sometimes a break is totally healing. LOVE Disney...enjoy!
Here for ICLW. Going to Disney on a little break sounds like just the thing! After that I hope your hubby is ready to tackle this infertility business head-on. It's a tough fight, but it can be so worth it! I really liked a post my hubby wrote about his perspective - maybe it would give your hubby a laugh:

Good to meet you and so sorry about your ear! That sounds like a frustrating and painful experience.
Visiting from ICLW and have really enjoyed hearing other women's stories.
I hope your recovery is quick and successful and you have a wonderful vacation.
