Hi. My name is April. (from the audience, "Hi April".) I am an e-mail-aholic. I obsessively check it multiple times a day, even though I know the chances are slim that anything has changes.
I check it first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. I refresh, login and then logout again, only to repeat the process again 30 minutes later.
It's almost an obsession. I can't pinpoint when my addiction began, but blogging has made it worse. It makes me want to check my e-mail more often, just in case there's a comment out there.
And yet, I find I can go a weekend without even the desire to look at a computer, let alone check e-mail, face.book, or even blogs. Why is it Monday - Friday I feel a need to be constantly plugged in and the weekends I don't?

So how long did it take you to see this email/ comment?
Word of advice, from one who knows. Don't get an i-phone - you'll be permanently plugged in!
Haha - I do the exact same thing! Right down to the need leaving on the weekends. For me, it's because I'm so unhappy at being at work that I use it as part of my procrastination and to get my mind off of what I should be going. My phone (a dr.oid x) actually helped a little because then I knew there was no need to check every 20 mins, it would beep at me if I had a new email.
And it took me about 13 seconds to see your response. We need help!
I agree with womb for improvement!!
I so have this awful habit! I have email on my phone yet I still log in and check it. its so stupid but i do it too
ME TOO!!! It was worse before my kids were born and I was at work. Like you, I was happy to be unplugged over the weekend, but M-F... Addicted!
I am the same way. Except I have 3 diff email accounts that I do that with. Not to mention Facebook and forums I visit!
Lord help me if I ever decide to get a smart phone!
I'm really bad too - especially now that I get email on my phone! I don't sleep well lately, so I even check it in the middle of the night. My husband calls it my 'electronic friend'.
